Paris Saint-Germain won the UEFA Super Cup for the second time by beating Aston Villa 2-1 to become one of the few clubs to do so.
Paris Saint-Germain defeat Aston Villa with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué scoring.
Defending Champions League winners PSG went ahead in the 20th minute with a stunning strike from Kvaratskhelia but Brian Madjo leveled on the stroke of half-time
Doue put the French side back in front on the hour and one minute and Europa League winners Villa were unable to grab a point in a match officiated by Somalian referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan who was denied entry to the United States and unable to take part in the World Cup.
“We are always hungry, we want more,” Doue told TNT Sports.
“I said after the Champions League final that we wanted more. We have ambitions, we are a young team we want to win everything again this season.”
PSG beats Tottenham on penalties to claim UEFA Super Cup
PSG boss Luis Enrique named a very strong team with nine of the side that won the Champions League final, despite many of his squad only just returning from the World Cup.

PSG took a while to get going but when they did Kvaratskhelia waltzed thru the Villa defense on more than one occasion before putting his side ahead.
Villa goalkeeper Marco Bizot saved from Doue but moments later, Doue played a pass to Kvaratskhelia just inside the area and the winger danced past defender Matty Cash before unleashing an unstoppable shot.
Madjo, making his Villa debut, had opportunities to equalize but headed two wide and another shot was pushed wide by the goalkeeper.
Persistence paid off for the 17-year-old forward seconds before the interval. John McGinn rolled a ball toward the six-yard box and Madjo, under pressure from Willian Pacho, volleyed into the roof of the net.
Madjo, who was signed from Metz in January but only became eligible to play last week after CAS upheld Villa’s appeal against a FIFA ruling, became the youngest ever scorer in the UEFA Super Cup with his equalizer.
Luis Enrique replaced Ousmane Dembele with new signing Maghnes Akliouche at the start of the second half, but it was Villa who created the first opportunity as Matvey Safonov palmed away McGinn’s shot from the edge of the area.
Doue’s winner came when he raced on to a thru ball from Dembele and curled his shot into the far corner, the offside flag going up but a VAR check giving the goal.
The 1982 Super Cup winners Villa had plenty of possession late on, but PSG put in an impressive defensive display and join AC Milan and Real Madrid as the only teams to retain the trophy.
Luis Enrique has won 13 trophies since joining PSG in 2023, while Villa boss Unai Emery is without a win from his four matches in the UEFA Super Cup.
They beat Tottenham Hotspur on penalties last year to win the French Super Cup and PSG will be defending that title when they take on Lens on Sunday.
