The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored four State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states ahead of the 2027 general election.
The move follows court rulings directing the electoral commission to restore the constituencies that had earlier been suppressed.
This was contained in a statement by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, on Friday.
In Delta, three constituencies restored are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II. In Kogi State, Yagba West II is restored.
The commission said political parties will hold primaries for candidates seeking to contest the restored seats between August 21 and 25, 2026.
INEC explained that the exercise is within the same period slated for primaries for other forthcoming bye-elections across the country.
The elections in the affected constituencies are scheduled for 19 September 2026.
The commission asked political parties planning to hold primaries for the restored constituencies to file the necessary notices ahead of their respective dates.
INEC also said all other activities and timelines in its earlier released timetable for the 2027 general election would apply to the restored constituencies.
The electoral body reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible, transparent and inclusive elections.
