The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has criticised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over his comments about Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s actions during ongoing political reconciliation efforts.
ADC Publicity Secretary Chizzy Enyi accused Wike of behaving as though he remains the chief executive of Rivers State.
Enyi made the comments in a video shared on social media after Wike discussed the political situation during an interview with TVC News.
Wike said Governor Fubara had shown sincerity in efforts to reconcile with members of the political group he previously disagreed with.
The minister pointed to the governor’s decision to submit a list of APC campaign council members before travelling to the United States as evidence of his commitment to the reconciliation process.
However, the ADC spokesman took issue with Wike’s description of the governor’s actions.
Enyi alleged that Wike’s comments demonstrated the influence he continues to exercise over Rivers State affairs.
He further claimed that Wike was primarily interested in the state’s resources.
According to Enyi, Wike’s position appeared to go beyond that of a former governor and suggested that he was acting like the state’s chief executive.
The ADC official said such a situation could not continue indefinitely and predicted that what he described as the current arrangement would eventually end.
The comments come against the background of the political relationship between Wike and Fubara, which has remained an important issue in Rivers State politics.

Wike governed Rivers before Fubara succeeded him. Their political relationship later became strained, resulting in a prolonged dispute that attracted national attention.
Recent reconciliation efforts have sought to reduce tensions among the different political camps.
Wike has publicly acknowledged steps taken by Fubara as part of the reconciliation process.
The ADC, however, has continued to question Wike’s influence and role in the state.
The latest comments by Enyi represent the party’s position and constitute an allegation about Wike’s interests. Wike was not quoted as directly responding to the allegation in the report.
