2027: ‘I’m the General Commander’ – Wike Claims Control of Rivers, FCT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he is in charge of the political structure of Rivers State and the nation’s capital and owes them to Tinubu in the forthcoming election.

It was learnt thatWike made this known on Wednesday while speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt.

In response to questions on whether the incumbent Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, controls the state’s political structure, Wike said holding the office of governor was not the only means to influence politics.

“You don’t have to be governor before you can be in charge, he said. I am in charge. I am the General Commander of the Political Infantry. So also in FCT. These two I owe to the president to give. “For the election, you count FCT as a state.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned Wike over his claim that he would deliver the FCT and Rivers State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027’s election.

NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, stated in a statement that Wike must be joking if he believes he can just write election results in Rivers State and the FCT.

The warning follows Wike’s statement in his monthly media chat on Wednesday when he said he would not fold his arms and allow the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to win the 2027 election.

The NDC chieftain said Wike is acting as if he is the one who will decide electoral outcomes in the FCT and Rivers State.

“We will vote, monitor and protect our votes in 2027,” vowed Agada.
