Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), said he is ready to die defending democracy and the votes of the people in the 2027 polls.
This is as he charged Nigerians not to be intimidated going into the general elections next year.
Obi was said to have made this declaration on Thursday during a town hall meeting with his supporters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“Don’t be afraid.
“Somebody said, ‘We are ready to die. Let me tell you, I’m just as ready to die. “So you are not alone,” said Peter Obi.
He also urged his supporters and all Nigerians to make sure they vote and defend their votes in the 2027 elections.
All they want is for you to stand up and demand that the vote count. And that’s the demand we’re going to make, and make aggressively,” he said.

The ex-Governor of Anambra State also warned that any attempt to rig the electoral process would be resisted.
He called on Nigerians to participate in political campaigns, saying the country can only be saved through collective effort.
“Yes, they’ll try to fix it. But let me tell you, this time it’s not going to be easy.
“If your hands are short, go to that campaign believing that we will rescue our country,” Obi said.
The presidential candidate of the NDC added that no excuse should be accepted in the fight against electoral malpractices and said Nigerians are already suffering from bad leadership.
“That glitch will glitch our life by letting them continue. This is why we are suffering today.
“Our leadership is bad so our refinery is bad,” he said.
