UTME, DE: JAMB Reveals Common Mistakes to Avoid When Creating Profiles

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective candidates to shun the temptation of making costly mistakes while constructing their profiles for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination or Direct Entry registration.

JAMB said a small error at the profile stage can cause major problems later in the admission process.

The Board made this known in a new advisory video issued under its “JAMB Explained” series and posted on its X handle on Wednesday.

The advisory, addressed to “fresh candidates”, highlighted errors in names and dates of birth as mistakes that could lead to problems during the admission process.

Before creating your JAMB profile to register for the UTME or Direct Entry, take some time to verify that the details such as your name, date of birth and others attached to the NIN are correct. Why?” the board asked.
It said information on candidates is collected from their records with the National Identity Management Commission and is not generated or edited by JAMB.

“This means if there is any error with your name or date of birth, JAMB cannot change it after registration,” it said.

The board also cautioned candidates on the assumption that obtaining an affidavit would automatically lead to the correction of their records with JAMB.

“Such information is the basis of our records. We need to ensure that from the beginning, the identity details of candidates are correct,” JAMB said.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to ensure that their details are accurate before creating the profile.
