Lagos APC Rebuilds Grassroots Structures, Unites Stakeholders Ahead of 2027 Elections
By Naomisophyblog
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its strategic reconciliation and rejuvenation efforts aimed at strengthening the political base of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative, which places reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and organisational renewal at the heart of the party’s strategy, was highlighted at a special stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC Lagos State Party Secretariat, Acme, Ogba, Lagos.
The meeting brought together party leaders, stakeholders and aggrieved aspirants in a concerted effort to address internal disagreements, rebuild trust and restore greater cohesion within the party. The engagement emphasised the need for personal and past political differences to give way to a renewed commitment to the collective interests and progress of the APC.
The reconciliation drive is particularly significant in Lagos, the political stronghold from which President Tinubu built and sustained a formidable political structure over the years. For the Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi-led APC in Lagos State, consolidating this political base requires not only sustained electoral mobilisation but also continuous engagement with stakeholders and the maintenance of a united and effective party structure.
A major feature of the gathering was the deliberate effort to reconcile aggrieved members and bring competing interests back into the party’s mainstream. The process is expected to strengthen cooperation among party actors, rebuild confidence and create a more cohesive platform for mobilising supporters ahead of 2027.
The rejuvenation agenda also extends to the grassroots, with renewed emphasis on strengthening the party’s polling-unit structures across the state.
In a symbolic demonstration of this renewed organisational focus, the Lagos State Deputy Governor and prominent APC leader, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, formally handed over nomination forms for Polling Unit Committee Members to party members entrusted with reinforcing the APC’s presence at the grassroots.
The initiative underscores the growing importance attached to polling-unit structures as the foundation of the party’s electoral strategy. Strong and functional polling-unit committees are expected to enhance grassroots communication, voter engagement, mobilisation and election-day coordination across Lagos State.
Beyond the immediate distribution of nomination forms, the exercise represents a broader effort to reactivate the party’s organisational network and strengthen the connection between party leadership and the communities that form the foundation of its electoral support.
The APC’s reconciliation and rejuvenation strategy is therefore focused on two interconnected objectives: healing internal political differences and rebuilding the grassroots structures required to translate the party’s support into sustained electoral strength.
For the Lagos APC, strengthening President Tinubu’s political base ahead of 2027 goes beyond maintaining existing structures. It requires renewing relationships, accommodating divergent interests, empowering grassroots actors and ensuring that the party remains sufficiently organised, united and responsive to the demands of a competitive electoral environment.
The stakeholders’ meeting consequently sent a strong message of renewal, unity and collective responsibility. By reconciling aggrieved members and rejuvenating its grassroots machinery, the APC is seeking to turn internal challenges into renewed political strength and greater organisational effectiveness.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, Lagos remains central to the APC’s political calculations. The party’s current strategy is focused on preserving and strengthening the political foundation associated with President Tinubu, deepening unity among stakeholders and rebuilding the grassroots network that has historically made Lagos a critical pillar of his political influence.
The emerging message is clear: reconciliation at the political level, rejuvenation at the grassroots and unity across the party will be central to consolidating the APC’s political base in Lagos and positioning the party for the 2027 elections.
