Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has responded to movie critic Tolu Fagbure after he questioned her acting talent and criticised her decision to release movies in cinemas.
Fagbure made the remarks during an interview on Agbaletu while discussing Ajao and her movie Ajakaju.
The critic said he did not believe Ajao had a place in the cinema and compared her with fellow Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola.
Fagbure further questioned the quality of Ajao’s acting, saying he did not consider her performances to demonstrate sufficient acting ability.
He acknowledged that the actress had an attractive appearance but argued that her looks were her major advantage. He described her delivery as “plastic” and said he did not believe she possessed the talent required to develop into a skilled actress.

The interviewer asked whether the criticism was too harsh, but Fagbure maintained that he was simply expressing his personal view.
“That’s my opinion. My opinion is not sacrosanct; my opinion is not the end,” he said.
Ajao later reacted to the comments in a post on X.
The actress appeared to respond calmly while also making a humorous reference to Fagbure’s statement about her appearance.
“Ahhh, so my fine face is the only thing carrying me? After all these years?” she wrote.
Ajao said she would continue concentrating on her career by working and improving her craft.
“I will just keep doing what I know how to do: work, grow and let the audience decide,” she said.
She also noted that people were free to express their opinions, but careers were established through sustained effort and commitment.
“After all, opinions are free, but careers are built,” the actress stated.
Ajao further dismissed the suggestion that criticism of her cinema projects would force her to stop acting.
“Cinema or no cinema, I’m not stopping anytime soon. Ire oo,” she added.
The exchange has generated reactions among entertainment followers, with Fagbure’s comments drawing attention to ongoing debates about acting standards in Nollywood.
Ajao, meanwhile, has indicated that she intends to remain active in the industry and allow audiences to form their own opinions about her performances.
The actress has continued to feature in Nollywood productions, while her response suggests that criticism from individual reviewers will not determine the direction of her career.
