Actress Juliana Olayode has cited passages from the Bible to explain her opposition to Christians identifying as gay or queer, insisting that Scripture should remain the foundation of believers’ convictions.
The Nollywood actress shared her position in an Instagram post, where she urged the Church to return to what she described as biblical truth.
Olayode expressed concern that teachings she believes contradict the Word of God were reaching adults, teenagers and children.
She called on Christian leaders to teach the Scriptures, live by their principles and avoid compromising their convictions to accommodate cultural changes.
According to her, the Christian faith and identifying as gay or queer are incompatible under her interpretation of biblical doctrine.
The actress, however, stressed that her position was not a call to hatred or violence against people with different sexual identities.
She said she did not wish harm upon gay, homosexual or queer people, adding that every human being deserves love.
Olayode explained that showing love does not require accepting another person’s beliefs or lifestyle when those choices conflict with her religious convictions.

To support her argument, she referenced Genesis 1:27, which describes God creating humanity in His image as male and female.
She also cited Matthew 19:4-6, where Jesus refers to male and female and the biblical understanding of marriage.
The actress argued that Christians who believe God is their Creator should recognise His Word as their ultimate authority rather than allowing personal desires or cultural expectations to shape their faith.
She encouraged believers to communicate their convictions in love while remaining firm in what they consider biblical truth.
Her statement has renewed attention to discussions about the interpretation of Scripture and the place of LGBTQ identities within Christian communities.
Olayode’s remarks reflect her personal understanding of Christian doctrine and the passages she cited.
She concluded by reiterating that religious convictions should be shaped by Scripture rather than culture, while maintaining that people should be treated with love regardless of disagreements over beliefs or lifestyle.
