I Lost 2023 Election, It Broke My Heart – Banky W Opens Up On Painful Experience

Nigerian singer and actor Bankole Wellington, known professionally as Banky W, has reflected on the journey that led him into pastoral ministry, revealing that his unsuccessful attempt to enter the House of Representatives in 2023 was a major turning point.

Banky W made this known while celebrating his first anniversary as a pastor, recalling how the election outcome left him heartbroken and searching for answers about his future.

The entertainer contested the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat under the Peoples Democratic Party but lost the election.

He said the disappointment made him reconsider several aspects of his life, including his involvement in politics, entertainment, business and religious service.

According to him, he initially approached the situation as though he had to decide which of these areas deserved his full attention.

He explained that he sought God’s guidance after the election, asking what direction his life should take and whether he should concentrate on leadership, entertainment, entrepreneurship or ministry.

Banky W said he eventually realised that he had been treating his different responsibilities as though they were mutually exclusive.

He added that his understanding changed when he recognised that he could serve in ministry while maintaining his existing professional commitments.

The singer described the development as an expansion of his calling, explaining that he remained a musician, filmmaker and entrepreneur while also taking on responsibilities as a pastor and professor.

He further reflected on how the past year had changed his outlook, saying the election loss did not prevent him from finding another direction for his life.

According to him, the experience taught him that an unexpected outcome can sometimes create room for a different opportunity.

Banky W expressed gratitude for his spiritual journey and the progress he had made since becoming a pastor.

He also celebrated the anniversary with his followers, asking them to wish him well as he marked the first year of his pastoral service.

His experience demonstrates how a political disappointment became an opportunity for personal reflection and a reassessment of his purpose, leading him to combine his religious responsibilities with his work in entertainment and business.
