Abbas Dissolves PFIPC Investigative Panel

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has disbanded all ad hoc committees established by the 10th House, terminating their ongoing assignments.

One of the affected panels is the committee headed by Yusuf Gagdi probing the controversies over the inclusion of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, reports said.

The leadership of the House, through a memorandum and signed by the Clerk of the House of Representatives Sidi Ibrahim, announced the dissolution to legislators.

The memo, “Dissolution of all Ad hoc Committees of the House of Representatives,” was sent to chairmen and members of the affected committees.

The directive stated that the dissolution was effective from Friday, August 28, 2026.

Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, Speaker, House of Representatives, directs me to inform all Honorable Members that all Ad Hoc Committees of the House are hereby dissolved with immediate effect.

“This directive is in continuation of previous announcements advising Ad Hoc Committees to finalize their assignments and submit their reports in line with the Rules and established practice of the House. With those announcements, only two Ad Hoc Committees requested and were granted extensions of time under Order Eighteen Rule 5 of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives. The two week extension time given has now expired.

For the avoidance of doubt, Honorable Members are reminded that Ad Hoc Committees are temporary Committees of the House established for specific and time-bound mandates. They are not meant to be permanent beyond the purpose and time for which they were created.

“In pursuance of Standing Orders of the House of Representatives, Order Eighteen, Rule 11, paragraph 5, which reads “Limitations as to time of Reports”, The Committees shall report within the time allowed. 6. As the time allocated has passed, the continued existence of the Ad Hoc Committees is no longer tenable.

“Consequently, all Ad Hoc Committees of the House stand dissolved with effect from Friday 28th August 2026; and activities being carried out in the name of such Committees shall cease forthwith.

“The Chairmen of the affected Committees are directed to forward all outstanding reports, working documents, records, and other materials relating to their assignments to the Office of the Clerk, House of Representatives, for safekeeping,

“The Honorable Members are requested to kindly take note and ensure strict compliance please.”
