Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission are not independent under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
This was made by Okonkwo in a post on 𝕏 reacting to Tinubu’s order to the EFCC to unfreeze the bank accounts of Osun State, it was reported.
The directive, the ADC chieftain said, has exposed Tinubu’s government as serial abusers of Nigeria’s corruption and independent agencies.
The constitutional lawyer said the president’s order is legally untenable but morally understandable July 5, 2023, 8:59 pm
He said, “Although the order by President Tinubu to the EFCC to unfreeze the Osun State account may be morally sensible, it is not legally correct.

“The directive has shown the world what every Nigerian knows, that Tinubu is a man that repeatedly uses corruption and independent agencies to unfairly pursue and persecute his political enemies.
“He admitted that he is not aware of the EFCC action, which is in support of Cardinal Onaiyekan’s opinion that the people around Tinubu are trying to project a false positive image of the country’s situation.
