The House of Representatives has given reasons why it did not invite and question Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu during its probe of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC.
The House ad hoc committee investigating alleged creation and running of the PFIPC said its first duty was to determine the origin of the alleged agency and not invite people whose names were found in documents related to it.
It said its probe was not meant to probe Gbajabiamila but an agency that has no legal basis, allegedly merged into the administrative and monetary systems of the Federal Government.
The committee’s chairman and Plateau State federal lawmaker, Yusuf Gagdi, said this during an interview program on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.
The committee advertized its investigation and invited members of the public and relevant institutions to submit memoranda and documents, Gagdi said.

He said the committee was mandated to find out who created the agency and under what authority.
The committee’s report submitted in Abuja on Wednesday cleared Gbajabiamila, it was learnt.
Recall that the self-acclaimed Director-General of the PFIPC, Adeniyi Adeyemi accused Gbajabiamila of receiving N400 million through proxies in connection with appointments to the fake organization.
Since then, the President’s Chief of Staff has denied the allegations and instituted a N15 billion defamation suit against Adeyemi.
Gagdi, speaking during the program, said the House gave the committee a broad mandate requiring it to establish, among other things, whether the PFIPC had any legal backing.
“In fact, the perception that the whole of that committee is Femi Gbajabiamila is not true.
“The House of Representatives has donated so many issues and terms of reference to the committee because of the activities around the unestablished agency,” he said.
